Compositions, either in two or three dimensions share a common Principle of Design: Balance.
Balance can be described in three general categories; Symmetrical, Asymmetrical and Radial. However, please do not make the mistake that it will always be easy to identify them with great accuracy. The sense of balance is to be used in generalities, recognizing for instance that most things are mostly one or the other types of balance.
